Before we got started, the joints were packed with dark, mossy buildup - the kind that holds moisture against the stone and speeds up deterioration. The original joint sand had mostly washed away or broken down to the point where it wasn't doing its job anymore. We cleared all of that out first. No shortcuts - you can't just pack new sand over old, compromised material and expect it to hold.

After cleaning everything down, we came back with polymeric sand. This stuff is different from regular sand. Once it activates with water, it hardens into a firm, flexible joint that resists washout, weeds, and insects. It's what gives the finished surface that tight, intentional look - and more importantly, it's what keeps the pavers stable and locked in place long-term.

The scope here covered a long paver driveway, a side walkway along the house, and a rear patio area off a covered outdoor living space. Each section got the same full treatment. The result is a hardscape that doesn't just look better - it's structurally sound again. Clean joints, uniform color, and no soft spots where sand has shifted.
