This Henrico home had all the signs of a house that had gone too long without attention. The siding - especially on the shaded back side of the house - had a heavy layer of green algae, dirt, and oxidation built up across every lap. That kind of buildup doesn't just look bad. It holds moisture against the surface and slowly does damage over time.

We tackled the full exterior with a soft wash house washing approach, which is the right call for vinyl siding. High pressure can force water behind the panels and cause real problems. Soft washing uses a cleaning solution to break down the algae and grime at the source, then rinses it clean. The result is thorough - not just surface-level.

The deck got attention too. The composite decking and stairs had that dull, grimy film that builds up from exposure to the elements, pollen, and foot traffic. After cleaning, you can see the actual color and texture of the boards again. Same goes for the stone walkways and steps out back - the granite cobblestone was dark with buildup, and it cleaned up to show the natural variation in the stone.

A clean exterior does more than look better from the street. Removing algae and organic growth from siding, decking, and walkways helps protect those surfaces. It's the kind of maintenance that pays off - especially on a well-kept home like this one.
