This North Chesterfield home needed attention on two fronts - the siding had built up a heavy layer of green algae and grime, and the wood deck was dark with years of dirt and organic buildup. That combination is pretty common around here. Trees close to the house, humidity, and just regular weathering will do that to any exterior over time.
On the siding, we used a soft wash approach. That means low pressure with the right cleaning solution to kill the algae and break down the grime without putting stress on the vinyl. High pressure on siding can actually push water behind the panels or cause damage you won't notice right away. Soft washing gets you a deeper, longer-lasting clean - and you can see the difference across the whole rear wall.
The deck was a different story. Wood surfaces need a more careful touch too. We cleaned the boards thoroughly to pull out the embedded dirt and discoloration. The wood grain opened back up nicely. That rich, warm tone you see in the after shots isn't a product or coating - that's just what the wood looks like when it's actually clean.
We also worked around everything on-site - the HVAC units along the foundation, the propane tank on the side of the house, all of it. Nothing gets skipped, but nothing gets damaged either. That's just part of doing the job right.
House washing and deck cleaning together make a lot of sense as a combo. You're already out there, the equipment is set up, and the whole exterior ends up looking consistent. For homeowners in North Chesterfield dealing with the same kind of buildup, it's one of the more straightforward ways to get the exterior back in good shape without a major investment.
