When the buildup gets to a certain point, no amount of landscaping can cover it up. Algae on the siding, grime on the walkways, mildew creeping across the deck boards - it all adds up. And the whole exterior just starts to look tired, even if everything else is well-kept.
That's exactly the kind of reset we knocked out here. We hit the house siding with a soft wash to pull off all that built-up grime without any risk of damage to the surface. The exposed aggregate concrete walkway got a thorough cleaning too - that textured surface traps dirt and debris in a way that flat concrete doesn't, so it really needs the right approach to come clean all the way through.
Both decks got cleaned as well. The covered front porch with the wood deck boards and the back composite deck off the french doors - two totally different surface types, and each one needs to be handled differently. Wood requires more careful pressure control. Composite is more forgiving, but it still collects plenty of mold and organic staining that won't come off with a garden hose. We treat each surface for what it actually is.
The thing about doing the whole exterior at once is that everything matches when you're done. You don't end up with a clean house and grimy walkways, or a fresh deck next to a siding that still looks dull. It all comes together, and the curb appeal speaks for itself. That's what a full exterior cleaning is really about - the whole property looking sharp, not just one piece of it.
Dirt, mold, and algae aren't just cosmetic problems either. Left alone, they break down surfaces faster and can make walkways slippery and unsafe. Getting ahead of it is a lot cheaper than dealing with the damage later. A good cleaning handles both - it looks great and it protects what you've already invested in your home.
