Algae doesn't care how nice your house is. It just creeps in - especially on the shaded sides of the home where moisture likes to hang around. We're talking thick green and black streaking across every lap of siding, from the foundation brick all the way up to the roofline. Left alone, that growth doesn't just look bad. It actually holds moisture against the siding and can cause real damage over time.

That's exactly the kind of situation we ran into here. The back and sides of this home were covered in algae buildup - heavy streaking across the vinyl siding with discoloration running wall to wall. The front of the house also had a concrete walkway that had gone dark and dirty from grime and organic buildup. Two separate problems, one visit.

For the siding, we used a soft wash approach. That means low pressure with the right cleaning solution - not a high-pressure blast that can force water behind the siding or damage the material. Soft washing kills the algae at the root instead of just knocking it off the surface, which is why the results last longer. Every panel, every corner, the gutters, the trim - all of it got treated.

The exposed aggregate concrete walkway leading up to the front porch got the same level of attention. Concrete is porous, so it holds onto grime, algae, and discoloration in a way that builds up gradually. You barely notice it until one day the whole walkway looks like it's been stained. A proper concrete cleaning pulls all of that out and brings the surface back to what it actually looks like.

The difference on this property is hard to miss. The siding went from streaked and dingy to clean and bright. The walkway went from dark and grimy to showing off the natural texture of the aggregate again. This is what a full exterior wash can do - it doesn't just clean the surface, it changes the whole feel of the property.
